` Waiting Period - SUNYRF Benefits

Waiting Period

To meet the waiting period you must work the required hours of service (975 hours of service for a 37.5 hour week or 1,000 hours for a 40-hour week).

You can meet the waiting period as a full-time SUNY student employed in a specific RF student title; however you will not be vested nor receive contributions unless you are subsequently appointed as a regular RF employee.

Once you have met the waiting period you will receive a letter from the RF notifying you that you are now eligible and outlining the next steps available to you.

The RF may waive this waiting period if you have enough prior service with another eligible employer.

The Employment Service Credit page will give you the details necessary to determine if you qualify for this waiver and how to claim it.
