` SUNY RF - Benefits

Divorce or Separation

In the event that a judgment, decree, or court order establishes the rights of another person to your benefits under the plan, and where there is a qualified domestic relations order, payments will be made by TIAA in accordance with that order. A court order may preempt the usual requirement that your spouse be considered your primary beneficiary for a portion of the accumulation.

TIAA has the procedures and forms necessary to determine whether a judgment, decree or order is a “qualified domestic relations order”. For more information visit www.tiaa.org/rfsuny or call TIAA.
