Contributions

If you were hired Your tier is And the RF contributes the following percentage of your annual calendar year earnings.
Before January 1, 1981 Tier 1 12% of the first $16,500 and 15% of the excess
On or after January 1, 1981
But before July 1, 1992
Tier 2 12% of all amounts
On or after July 1, 1992,
But before July 1, 1994
Tier 3 9% of the first $16,500 and 12% of the excess
On or after July 1, 1994,
But before January 1, 2018

Tier 4

8% for the first 7 years of eligible* service, and 10% thereafter of all amounts
On or after January 1, 2018 Tier 5 7% of all amounts

 

Eligible service for Tier 4

The first year of eligible service must include 975/1,000 hours of non-student employment.  

Each subsequent anniversary year in which you are appointed for one hour or more of eligible non-student service will count as one year of service.

An anniversary year in which you do not work at least one hour of service will result in elimination of previously credited service.

When you have completed seven years of service according to these rules, contributions will increase to 10 percent. Contributions will continue at 10 percent as long as you remain active in Tier 4.
